The best InShot alternative depends on what bothers you. For a free editor without ads or a logo, try VN or Adobe Premiere’s mobile app. For more templates and effects, CapCut. For detailed multi-track work, LumaFusion. If most of your videos are you talking to the camera and the cutting takes too long, a transcript editor such as slicecut is the faster tool. And if InShot works for you, its lifetime Pro option may be the cheapest fix of all.

What InShot does well

InShot is one of the most popular phone editors for a reason. It is quick to learn, stable, and covers the everyday jobs: trimming, merging, speed, keyframes, chroma key, stabilisation, filters, transitions and a collage maker, with export up to 4K at 60 fps (App Store). It has also added speech tools: auto captions and AI Cut, which removes silence, filler words and breath sounds.

The paid tier is modest by today’s standards: on the US App Store, InShot Pro costs $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once, and removing ads alone is $3.99 (App Store).

Why people look for an InShot alternative

  • Ads and the logo on the free tier. The free version shows ads, and reviews report an InShot logo on free exports that only Pro removes (Pixflow).
  • Phone only. InShot runs on iPhone and Android, with no desktop version.
  • Built for quick edits. InShot is organised around one main timeline. For heavily layered edits, a desktop-style multi-track editor is more comfortable.
  • Speech editing by guesswork. AI Cut removes filler words and silence automatically, but it decides for you. It cannot tell which of two takes of a sentence is better or which “um” is doing work.

What to look for

  1. Free tier: ads, watermark, resolution.
  2. Price model: free, subscription or a one-time purchase.
  3. Platforms: phone only, or a desktop version too.
  4. Editing model: a timeline, or a transcript where you cut by deleting words.

VN

The most direct free alternative. VN offers a multi-track timeline, keyframe animation with adjustable curves, auto captions and reusable templates, and promotes exports without a watermark (App Store). It also has Mac and Windows apps. The trade-off is a slightly steeper learning curve than InShot. See CapCut vs VN for how it compares with the most popular option.

Adobe Premiere for mobile

Adobe’s free Premiere app arrived on iPhone in 2025 and on Android in September 2026. Basic editing needs no subscription or account; it exports up to 4K and adds no watermark (Tech Advisor). If ads and the logo are why you are leaving InShot, this is the obvious first try.

CapCut

CapCut does more than InShot in nearly every category, from templates to AI tools, and runs on desktop and web as well. It is also more complex and its Pro tier costs considerably more. The details are in InShot vs CapCut.

LumaFusion

For people who outgrow InShot and want many tracks, audio control and keyframes, without a subscription.

slicecut

slicecut is not a general editor and does not try to replace InShot’s toolbox. It replaces the slow part of editing someone talking: finding the cuts.

Import a take and it becomes a transcript. Tap a word to strike it, or drag across a sentence to strike the whole line; the cut lands right before the next word. You choose every cut, so a filler word that carries a thought stays and a repeated sentence goes. One dial sets every pause in the project to a target length, with pinned pauses left alone. Several takes merge into one transcript.

The export is rendered on the phone at source quality, without a watermark on any plan, and only the audio track is uploaded for transcription. There are no ads.

It does not add music, stickers or effects. Many people cut in slicecut and finish in InShot.

When to stay with InShot

If you make quick edits on one phone, like the interface and mind the ads only a little, InShot’s lifetime Pro purchase removes the logo and ads for a one-time price. That is cheaper over a year or two than most subscriptions on this page.

Combining apps

A setup that works for many creators who talk to the camera:

  1. Cut the take in slicecut: repeats, false starts, pauses.
  2. Open the clean cut in InShot or CapCut for captions, music and text.

For more on that workflow, see how to edit a talking-head video and how to remove filler words from a video.
