How to merge videos on Android: Google Photos, Samsung Studio and free editors

Combine two or more videos into one on Android with Google Photos, Samsung's Studio or a free editor, and how to merge several talking-head takes into one clean video.

To merge videos on Android without installing anything, use Google Photos: create a highlight video from the clips, put them in order in the editor and save. On a Samsung Galaxy, Studio in the Gallery app does the same: start a new project, select the videos, save the movie. For more control, a free editor such as Adobe Premiere for Android combines clips on a timeline. If the clips are takes of you talking, merging them into one transcript lets you join and clean them up in one pass.

Merge videos with Google Photos

Google Photos builds combined videos through its Highlight video feature, and since December 2025 its redesigned editor has a timeline with multi-clip editing; on Android it is the default video editor (TechCrunch).

  1. Open Google Photos and start a Highlight video, either from the plus (+) button or from the Create tab.
  2. Choose the clips. You can pick them manually instead of letting the app suggest content (9to5Google).
  3. Google Photos builds a first version with music.
  4. In the editor, rearrange the clips by holding and dragging them, trim each one with its handles, and add more clips on the left of the timeline (Android Authority).
  5. Change or remove the music if you do not want it, then save.

Google also offers templates with preset music and text that build the video for you (TechCrunch). They are quick for a trip recap and less useful when you want the clips in a particular order with no soundtrack.

Google rolls these features out in stages and the menus change, so if a button is missing, update the Photos app from the Play Store.

Merge videos on Samsung with Studio

Samsung’s Gallery has Studio, a project editor for several clips (Samsung US):

  1. Open Gallery and tap the menu (three lines) at the bottom.
  2. Tap Studio, then Start new project.
  3. Select the videos you want to combine and tap Done.
  4. Reorder the clips, and add text, stickers or a soundtrack if you like.
  5. Tap Save movie.

On Galaxy phones with Galaxy AI, Studio also offers Auto trim, which removes pauses and blank parts. Trimming each clip before you merge is covered in how to cut out parts of a video on Samsung.

Merge videos with a free editor

When you need more than an order and a soundtrack, such as precise trims, transitions, titles or several tracks, use a timeline editor. Adobe Premiere arrived on Android in September 2026: free for basic editing, no account needed, a multi-track timeline, export up to 4K and no watermark (Tech Advisor). CapCut, InShot, VN and LumaFusion work similarly.

The steps are the same in all of them:

  1. Start a new project.
  2. Select the clips in the order you want them. Most editors add them in selection order.
  3. Drag to reorder if needed, trim each clip’s ends, and set the transitions between them.
  4. Export at the resolution you recorded in.

Merging several takes of a talking-head video

Most “merge two videos” searches from creators are really about takes. You filmed a video in three attempts because you stumbled, and now you want one clean video. The takes overlap: the second repeats the last sentence of the first, the third starts with “okay, so”.

On a timeline you merge the clips, then go through every seam to find and cut the overlaps. In slicecut, the takes become one transcript:

  1. Import the takes into one project. They read as a single document, in order.
  2. Where a sentence appears twice, strike the weaker version: tap a word, or drag across the sentence.
  3. Strike the restarts, “okay, so” and anything else you do not want. The cut lands right before the next word.
  4. Use the pause dial so the joins have the same rhythm as the rest of the video.
  5. Export. Rendering happens on the phone, at source quality, and the result goes to your gallery.

Merging and cleaning up happen in one pass, because you can see where each take repeats the previous one. slicecut accepts source videos up to 15 minutes and finished projects up to 20 minutes, which covers Reels, Shorts and TikToks comfortably.

Make the clips match before you merge

A merged video looks like one video when the clips match. What gives the joins away:

  • Orientation. A horizontal clip in a vertical video gets bars or a crop. Record every take the same way up.
  • Light. If the light changed between takes, every join shows it. Record takes back to back.
  • Sound. Different rooms or microphones sound different. Keep the setup the same.
  • Framing. If the phone moved, the jump between takes is larger than a normal jump cut. Keep it still, or change the framing deliberately at a new section.

Which method to use

Your clips Best way on Android
A few clips from a day out Google Photos highlight video
Clips on a Samsung phone, quick Gallery → Studio → Start new project
Precise trims, titles, several tracks Adobe Premiere, CapCut or LumaFusion
Takes of you talking that overlap slicecut: one transcript, strike the repeats
